Loving Uncle, Cousin, Friend
U.S. Air Force Veteran

Arthur Kostoulakos, a lifelong resident of Dracut, MA, died peacefully on May 20, 2021, aged 89 years.

He was born in Dracut on June 26, 1931, the youngest of eleven children born to Demetrius and Marigo (Strobalakos) Kostoulakos. Arthur’s early education was in the Dracut School System.

When he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on May 3, 1951 during the Korean War, he followed in the footsteps of five older brothers who also served in the U.S. Military. During his service, Arthur received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. After his honorable discharge on May 2, 1955, Mr. Kostoulakos attended evening classes at the former Lowell Technological Institute where he studied mechanical drafting, which was to become his life’s profession.

He was employed by Raytheon Company for several years, and later worked for Millipore Corporation in Bedford from which he retired.

Arthur was a lifelong communicant of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, and was a member of their choir for many years. He was an ardent ballroom dancer, and a student of jazz music and the music of the Big Band Era. Arthur sang with the Lowell Senior Center Singers and was formally a member of the Spindle City Singers. He also wrote poetry and short stories, some of which have appeared in area publications.

Arthur is survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his former wife Mary Silva who died in 2009, and also by his dearest friend Nancy Katin who died in 2018. His five sisters, Ester Stamas, Clara Kouchalakos, Antonia Sintros, Toula Konstantinakos, and Frances Kendall, and five brothers, Charles Kostoulakos, William Kostoulakos, George Kostoulakos, Stephan Kostoulakos and Thomas Kostoulakos, also previously passed.
