Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother
Dorothy F. (Ambrose) (Tramonte) Cantor, of Tyngsboro, died peacefully March 11, 2021, in Lowell, aged 90 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael E. Cantor.
Born in Medford, MA, November 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Michael and Eleanor (Cerullo) Ambrose. Dorothy was raised in the Catholic faith, and during the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, she became a born-again Christian.
As her children became teenagers, she partnered in the purchase a clothing boutique in Wakefield which she ran successfully for several years. She also obtained a manicurist’s license.
Through the years, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, playing golf and creating beautiful ceramic pieces. She also enjoyed music and dancing, and much to the delight of her two daughters, would sing around the house when they were young. In her final years, she would dance even in the nursing home when they played music. Happy and outgoing, Dorothy had a playful, kind, and accepting attitude all the way to the end of her life. Most of all she loved her family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna M. Dougherty of Tyngsboro, five grandchildren, Jessica O’Neil and her husband Greg, Asheley Clark and her husband Judah, Lucas Dougherty and his wife Michelle, John Veader and his wife Kristin, and Matthew Veader and his wife Johanna, 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Marie Wakelee of Woburn. She was the mother of the late Cheryl A. Veader, and sister of the late Elinor Dussault.
