Obituary for Lim Seng Hour

It is with deep remorse that we announce the death of Lim Hour Seng of the Highlands neighborhood who passed away on August 19, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital known to the older Cambodian residents as Peht Phnom – Hospital on the Hill. Born on July 5, 1941, he grew up in Battambang Province in Cambodia where, before the takeover of the country by the genocidal Khmer Rouge, he served as a Buddhist monk. After he arrived in Lowell he became the long-time partner of Kim Sar who passed away in December of 2019.

Before a stroke incapacitated him in 1999, Lim worked as a machinist for Cambridge Tools in North Billerica. Lim was a skilled carpenter, enjoyed daily walks, fishing at Gloucester and Hampton Beach, trips to Canada, and was a connoisseur of Khmer music especially the older sentimental and romantic songs of Sin Sisamouth and Ros Serey Sothea. Lim was an active member of Wat Trairatanaram (Wat Cha) and also at Vatt Khmer Lowell.

He leaves behind several special family members and friends including Elizabeth Ry Nay, Somaly Touch, Tina Young, Josie Nou, Kosal Thim, Chansokthea Touch, Sina Choeun, Chansothar Touch, Chansothyda Touch, Soknorm Chan, Soknon Chan, Sokravoth Chan, Soknerath Nora Chan, Clara Thim, Sothy Young, Alexia Nou, Bella Nou, Nicholas Chan, Kaylanie Chan, Priscilla Thim, Elijah Thim, Violet Chan, Octavia Chan, Johnson Padachith, Slyvia Chan, Saveth Thim, Sivmouy Chhiv, and Mehmed Ali.

His warm smile and kind heart will not be forgotten.
