Loving Wife, Sister, Aunt, Friend
Maryann (Zalewski) Wright, 61, of Lowell, died on August 24, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital, after courageously battling cancer for 30 years. She was the beloved wife of Robert K. Wright, with whom she celebrated 38 years of marriage.
She was born in Lowell on January 14, 1961, a daughter of the late Stanley and Louise (Barbara) Zalewski. Maryann received her early education in the Lowell school system and was a proud graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1979.
For a short time, Maryann worked in the kitchen at the Bedford V. A. before starting her career at the Social Security Administration, which spanned over 37 years.
She loved to bake, and anything she cooked was delicious. She never missed an opportunity to go shopping, especially when looking for special gifts for others. Maryann found great happiness in tending her beautiful flower garden, floating in her pool on a sunny day, relaxing at Lake Winnipesaukee, being near the mountains, or walking a sandy beach. She treasured time away at “Girl’s Weekend” in Wells, Maine with her co-workers from Social Security, and spending time at the “Hood” at Harbor Hill Campground with Sania, Chuck, Rick, Sue, Ron, and Diane.
Maryann never forgot a birthday, and was as dedicated a friend as one could have. She was always willing to help anyone in need. Not one to let her illness hold her back, she never gave up and never gave in, staying tough for all of us through it all.
She was Bob’s ROCK, and also had many special friends, including Dave Koziol Sr., Dave Koziol Jr. and his fiancée Kristan Callanan, Dan and Meg Callanan, and Bob Carter (a.k.a., her son). Also, Gail Halligan and her son Mike, Vicky Ledoux, Bill and Janet McMahon, and Cathy and Dave Ayotte and their son David, all of whom who were like family.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, John M. Zalewski (Ret. Navy), a sister, Barbara L. Thibodeau, a niece, Margaret M. Goernert and her husband Eric, and two nephews, John M. Zalewski Jr. and his wife Bobijo, and Drew M. Purdy, all of Delaware. Also, by her beloved dogs, Maggie, Ruby, Jewl, and Bailey.
The family would like to share their eternal thanks for the love and care she received from Dr. Robert Soiffer and the amazing staff at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Boulevard, Lowell, on Thursday from 10 to 11:45 AM, followed by her Funeral Service at 12 PM. Interment will be private.
