Loving Son, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle
Peter Velmure, 57, of Lowell, MA, died unexpectedly on Saturday April 25, 2020 at his home.
Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of Alice (Gallagher) Greathead of New Hampshire and the late Joseph Velmure.
He attended Lowell Public Schools and graduated from the Lowell Adult Education Program in 2010. He worked in the concrete industry until 1997, when a serious accident caused him to change his path in life.
He was a member of Christ Church United in Dracut, where he served on the Outreach Committee. He was a dedicated parishioner who enjoyed volunteering for various events, but cooking for the Place of Promise in Lowell was a passion of his and where he left a footprint.
Christmas will not be the same without Peter. Every year he would put on his Santa Claus suit and hand out presents and Hershey bars at Church and family parties. At Easter, he would put on his Easter Bunny costume and participate in delivering food to people in need.
He was a Red Sox fan and enjoyed traveling and camping. Peter was happiest when he was spending time with his dog, children, and grandchildren. Peter had a passion for putting a smile on everyone's face. He was a reliable and loyal friend and a dedicated and loving father.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his former wife, Kelly (O’Sullivan) Velmure of Stoneham; a daughter, Jessica Velmure of Lowell; a son, Justin Velmure of Stoneham; three grandchildren, Maryanye, Caleb, and Talia of Lowell, a niece, Mechelle Desroches of Lowell; two brothers, Shawn and Joseph Velmure; a sister, Susan Velmure; several loved step-siblings, many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Scooby.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in Peter’s memory may be made to:
