Obituary for William R. "Bill" Crowther

US Marine Corps Vietnam War

William R. Crowther, 75, formerly of Lowell, died June 15, 2021 at his home in Rochester, New York.

He was born in Lowell on April 23, 1946, a son of the late Richard M. and Marion L. (Norton) Crowther.

Bill graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1964. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1964, and was honorably discharged in 1967. Bill was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for combat during the Vietnam War. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.

After proudly serving his country, he pursued a Bachelor of Arts Degree in East Asian Studies from Central Connecticut State University, graduating in 1972.

Bill lived and worked in Rochester for the past 45 years. Fishing was his passion, but he also enjoyed reading and researching military history.

He is survived by four brothers, Richard, James, Thomas, and John, all residing in Florida.

A private graveside service with military funeral honors was held at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford. Arrangements entrusted to the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Boulevard, Lowell. Funeral Director, Frederick W. Healy.
